Open Current Affairs

Editorial policy

Open Current Affairs aims to give readers careful explanations of public issues, with clear distinctions between established information, interpretation, and uncertainty.

Accuracy and clarity

We check factual statements against dependable, relevant sources and explain the basis for important claims in the published text. We use precise language, give necessary context, and avoid presenting speculation as settled fact. Articles are written for general understanding, not as professional advice.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to secure favourable coverage for a partner or contributor. Where a relationship could reasonably matter to a reader's interpretation, we disclose it clearly. Partner involvement does not grant control over independent editorial conclusions.

Corrections

If a reader spots an error, they can contact us with the article and the detail in question. We review specific concerns and correct material errors as appropriate, making the change clear when it affects the substance of an article.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, sponsored, and other partner material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where an illustration is AI-generated, it is identified as such. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence.

Our point of view

Context is part of the story.

A public issue rarely begins or ends with a headline. We make room for the background, the competing ideas, and the questions still taking shape.
